Diminishing The Darkness By Lifting Up The Marvelous Light Of Jesus Christ

From the Editor... by Tim Greenwood
Why is it so difficult for us to believe for that which God has scripturally promised us?
  • It doesn’t take much faith to believe in something that cannot fail.
  • It doesn’t take much faith to believe that you can become something that you already are.
  • It doesn’t take much faith to believe that you can have something that already belongs to you.
  • It doesn’t take much faith to believe that you can do something that you already have the ability within you to do.
Mark 11:23-24, the very first scripture that the Holy Spirit selected to teach me, says, “IF you believe and DOUBT NOT,” because I was a doubter, not a believer.

This scripture is the FRAMEWORK for operating in FAITH.  It is a PRIMARY scripture.  It is the Primer.  It is the 1st grade reader. It is the ABC’s of FAITH.
  • Why are so many still stuck here?
  • Why is there still doubt?
If you still doubt, do you even know what it is that you are doubting?
  • What you doubt is that God’s Word is good.
  • What you doubt is that God will keep His promises.
  • What you doubt is that God will do what He said He would do.
Now, on the other hand, if you are a believer you need not pray for your healing. No, Isaiah 53:10 says that it pleased God to bruise Jesus and make Him sick with OUR sicknesses and diseases.  And back in verses 4 and 5 it says that you already HAVE healing.  It says that He, Jesus, has already borne and carried our sicknesses and diseases and that by His stripes we are healed.

So why beg, plead, pray or even ask for something that you already have? The contract is right there.  Why not just sign it, take it before the throne, thank God and begin celebrating. TGM

Praying For Your Country
by Marcia Greenwood

Beginning around Labor Day, 2016, some of my friends and I were privileged to join many other Christians in this country on morning prayer conference calls, praying for our country and the upcoming elections.  Many times callers could not get in because the call limit was 1,000 lines.

We did not pray for only one candidate to win, but for the person who would listen to God and be led by Him.  We desired God’s plan to continue to unfold for America.

Now, after the election, for the first 100 days into President Trump’s leadership, much of the prayer is directed for him, his cabinet and appointees.  We are praying for safety in America and many other things of importance also.

I write about this because recently I happened to look at the first few pages of the Bible and came across an interesting letter from the translators of the King James Bible.  They were happy to have a king that respected God Almighty and would keep peace in Great Britain, France and Ireland.  King James wanted all people to be able to read and be guided from the Bible, so he commissioned men to translate the Bible from the Greek and Hebrew language into English.

One thing the translators wrote: “But among all our joys, there was no one that more filled our hearts, than the blessed continuance of the preaching of God’s sacred Word among us; which is that inestimable treasure, which excelleth all the riches of the earth; because the fruit thereof extendeth itself, not only to the time spent in this transitory world, but directeth and disposeth men unto that eternal happiness which is above in heaven.”

The people were happy to have a righteous king to lead them, and to have a king who followed God was a great comfort and brought peace to them.

As time went on, more and more kings began to rule their own way, and worshipping God was not as important to them as when James was king in England. You see, we in America understand that the Pilgrims came to America to have freedom to worship God.  America was founded on godly principles.

The devil hates the very idea of that. The devil is a destroyer.  Just as he tried to destroy other countries, he is continually trying to destroy America; even from our birth as a great nation.  He tried to divide our forefathers when they were writing the Constitution of the United States. He tried to divide and destroy American with the Civil War, the War Between the States.  And the list can go on and on at his attempts to destroy this country.

Whether you voted for this present president or not (or any acting president), this is not the time to gripe and complain. No, we must unite together in prayer and not allow the devil to divide and destroy our great nation.

In first Timothy, chapter two, the apostle Paul, in writing to Timothy, a young preacher said, I strongly urge you to pray for your leaders first thing in your daily prayers.  Why?  So the people can live a quiet and peaceable life.

This is why we too must pray for our leaders, because prayer changes things.  Prayer will not force God’s hand in a matter, or make Him change His ways.  No, we as Christians must use our prayers to stand in the gap for others and to change ungodly situations. We must use our God-given authority and dominion in this world to pray for our leaders to come to know God, to hear His voice and be directed by Him.

But, you may say – “I am not called to be an intercessor.”  OK then just be a pray-er!  Everyone can pray.  God can work in people’s hearts.  Do you remember when your heart was first changed?  The ways of this world wasn’t first in your thoughts and actions.  Rather, God was first in your heart and pleasing and getting to know Him was your priority.

God desires ALL people to come to receive Jesus as their Lord, Savior, and King.  God desires ALL people to live in a land of blessings and plenty, full of peace and tranquility.

Whether you join in a prayer conference call or in your home or church Bible study or in your individual prayers, it is your right and privilege to pray for your leaders and country.  So, I, as the apostle Paul did many, many years ago encouraged and advised Timothy, I urge each of you reading this letter to pray for your leaders, beginning with the President, so we all can live one day in the United States of America, under God’s guidance and leadership.
