This Is How We Vote
[et_pb_section bb_built="1"][et_pb_row][et_pb_column type="4_4"][et_pb_text _builder_version="3.11"]As a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Religious Organization, Tim Greenwood Ministries cannot legally endorse any political party or candidate. We can't tell you who or what to vote for, so rather than do that I will just describe the methods by which Marcia and I select whom we personally vote for.
First understand that when you vote for a candidate, you are entering into a covenant with him or her. What this means to us is that we are partnering with them. That to an extent, should mean that we stand for what they stand for. Or that they stand for what we stand for.
Our system is really pretty simple. We ask the question, "Which issues are the most important to God?" Going by the leading of the Holy Spirit, we believe that God is primarily concerned with the moral issues of today. So we look at that first. And the issue that seems to have the greatest moral implication today is that of abortion.
Abortion is NOT a political issue!"Gay" marriage is NOT a political issue! These are MORAL issues!
For instance: In the last election here in California, we selected as our next most important moral issue, 'the mandatory teaching of homosexual lifestyle in California public schools.'
The second question we ask is, "Which issues might affect our basic Constitutional Freedoms?" Because those freedoms are what provides us with all the legal protections we have to insure our right to even vote, to speak out against and seek redress from a government grown out of control and belligerent to Christians.
Freedom of Religious expression is NOT a political issue!Freedom against illegal search and seizure is NOT a political issue!Freedom to have, transport and carry arms (including ammunition) is NOT a political issue!Freedom of speech is NOT a political issue!NO threat to ANY of our constitutional freedoms is a political issue! These are FREEDOM issues!
So, using the internet, we do some research as to what the candidates 'believe in' based upon:
- How they have voted on these issues.
- What they have said in press releases. and
- Who is supporting them.
(We often find this information by searching the web for voter guides.)
This process usually eliminates so many candidates that we rarely have to go much further than this.
After we eliminated those candidates that were in favor of this we had our voting list.
Now there were some county and local candidates that we just could not find information on. In those cases we just looked at the stance of their political party on the above issues or the party of who was endorsing them.If we still needed to 'thin the heard' so to speak, then we would just go on to the next most important moral issue. |
Also, the best advice that I could give anyone concerning voting is "NEVER vote the money!"If one studies the economy over time, they will see that party politics really have absolutely nothing to do with the rise and fall of the economy.
The economy just flows in fairly predictable cycles that follow the principals of sowing and reaping, blessing and cursing. When its good both parties try to take credit for it, and when its bad they try to blame each other for it.I mean, think about it! If the economy was political - what sitting President would EVER ALLOW the economy to be bad during their watch!
The only time we ever vote the money is when that IS the only issue - such as voting on bond issues. And even then we give a lot of weight to who is BACKING it those issues.
Well that may seem a little simplistic to some of you but it works for us and I believe it helps us to vote as God would have us vote for our benefit as well as the benefit of our nation.
Right now we as Christians have an extremely rare opportunity to effect major positive and meaningful changes in our nation.
IF all Christians in the U.S. were to vote as a block -
- We could put prayer back in the schools!
- We could put the 10 Commandments back in our public buildings!
- We could restore the moral fiber of this nation!
- ALL of our candidates would win by a landslide!
- ALL of the a-moral, anti- prayer and anti-God legislation could be overturned!
- ALL of the unjust Judges could eventually be replaced by moral God fearing Judges!
But... too many Christians are too apathetic, too passive or just too plain lazy to stand up and perform their civic responsibility - and vote!
(Doesn't sound much like Christ to me!)
If we don't vote, we are abdicating control of our religious freedoms into the hands of those that actually see us as a threat to their secular-humanist agenda. And understand this - they don't just want to get rid or prayer and the 10 Commandments. They want to get rid of EVERYTHING that makes them feel guilty when they sin! That includes God, Jesus and YOU!
We whole-heartedly believe that God will hold us responsible for how we vote and if we do not vote.Remember - a non-vote - is an automatic vote for the opposition. And DON'T YOU DARE complain about about whatever you ALLOW!
Are You Registered To Vote?
"We are not a minority - we are the majority! It is time to declare at the ballot box that we will no longer allow officials who embrace the values of the 6 percent who do not believe in God to repeal the rights of the 94 percent who do. We must remove officials who do not comply with traditional, historical and biblical principles and replace them with those who do."David Barton, Founder and President, WallBuilders |
Your Vote Counts...even if YOU don't cast it! But to vote you must first register. The deadline for voter registration is fast approaching. If you have not registered to vote, please consider doing so NOW. Our country needs the participation of every believer on Election Day. Exercise your right of freedom and faith by voting in November.
You may register locally, or go to "www.congress.org" for instructions on how to register online. (Note: Congress.org is a public service Web site. Tim Greenwood Ministries is in no way associated with this site, and does not endorse any particular political candidates.)
So, if you are not registered to vote, get registered. If you believe that the Democratic Party best represents how God would have you vote, then register as a Democrat. If you believe that the Republican Party best represents how God would have you vote, then register as a Republican. And so on for all the parties. If you are not sure - and don't want to be locked into any one party, register as INDEPENDENT! If you signed up and change your mind - you can change your registration.
HOW you vote is between YOU and GOD!But I ASSURE you that GOD is watching.
It is our hope that this has been a help to you or at least an insight into another way to look at voting. If you live outside the United States, please join your faith and prayers with ours for the upcoming elections.
